At Bayview Kenworth, we’re proud to share that we’ve delivered the first natural-gas-powered Kenworth T880 east of Montreal, equipped with the new Cummins X15N engine.

This is a big step forward for our region’s trucking industry. The X15N engine delivers power that truly rivals diesel—with up to 500 horsepower and the same torque as our traditional T880 diesel models. It means operators don’t have to sacrifice performance to cut emissions.

And those emissions? They’re 90 percent below the thresholds set by today’s Canadian Environmental Protection Act and the EPA in the U.S. For fleets that cross the border, that’s real peace of mind when it comes to compliance.

We know there’s been talk about alternative fuels, but compressed natural gas is a real, practical option available today. It offers similar range to diesel, lower fuel costs, and familiar serviceability. The engine block is the same as diesel, with differences in the head and fueling system, which helps streamline maintenance and repair.

Yes, infrastructure still needs to grow. Right now, fueling options in Atlantic Canada are limited—but that’s changing. As demand increases, so will the availability of stations and support. This specific T880 is headed to work for Irving Oil, showing that large-scale fleets are serious about adopting lower-emission technology that can still handle the heavy-duty jobs Atlantic Canada demands.
